Paul Weiss settles with Trump, pledges $40 million in pro bono work

Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison became the first major law firm to settle with the Trump administration after an executive order targeted the firm. The firm agreed to provide $40 million in pro bono legal services to administration-backed causes and end DEI policies. The deal also required the firm to acknowledge wrongdoing by former partner Mark Pomerantz, who had prosecuted President Trump in Manhattan. Several partners resigned in protest, and four senior partners left to start a new firm.
