Princeton president refuses to make concessions, defends academic freedom

Princeton University refused to negotiate policy concessions after the Trump administration suspended $210 million in federal grants. President Christopher Eisgruber called the campaign "the greatest threat to American universities since the Red Scare of the 1950s." By August 2025, half of Princeton's grants were restored without the university making any deals.
