IRAN HEARINGS NOW.
The United States is conducting an illegal war against Iran that is engulfing the region and the world, and Congress hasn't held a single hearing.
Instead, they're appearing on TV and making social media content. We, the American people, deserve more.
Without hearings, we don't have answers to critical questions about the war. We don't have accountability for decisions that put American lives at risk.
Congress can act now.
Here's what you can do to make that happen and end this war:
The destruction
In less than two weeks, more than 1,300 Iranians have been killed. Seven American servicemembers are dead. Iranian missile and drone strikes have hit U.S. bases and allies across the region, killing civilians in Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, and the UAE. The conflict is spreading to Lebanon.
The most devastating single incident: a U.S. Tomahawk missile struck the Shajareh Tayyebeh girls' elementary school in Minab, killing more than 175 people, most of them girls aged 7 to 12. Congress has not publicly examined any of it.
The cost
This war is burning through billions of dollars while Congress cuts schools, healthcare, and housing. Every dollar spent on strikes in Iran is a dollar we could have used to take care of Americans at home.

The Constitution gives Congress the exclusive power to declare war. The President violated the law by launching this war.
But Congress isn't exerting its authority. A vote to limit the President's war powers failed in both chambers as a majority of Congress abdicated their constitutional duties:
House rejects Iran War Powers Resolution
Senate blocks Iran War Powers Resolution from reaching a floor vote
What hearings must cover
What are our goals?
What was the strategic objective, what does success look like, and who made the decision to strike? Why can't the administration come up with a straight answer?
What preparation was done?
What intelligence was this based on? Were diplomatic alternatives exhausted or even considered? Who was involved in the decision?
How are we paying for it?
Treasury and OMB need to explain what the war means in cuts for support for Americans, tax increases, and/or an exploding deficit.
What are the broader consequences?
Commerce, State, and DOD need to answer for the impact on allies, trade, regional stability, and security threats to Americans.
Who is accountable for casualties?
How did a U.S. missile hit a girls' school? What are the rules of engagement? Is the administration planning to send ground troops? How many are expected to die?
Hearings work.
- ●Hearings bring the truth in front of the American people. The administration has to show up, answer questions, and defend its decisions under oath and on camera. Their foolishness and lack of preparation will be exposed.
- ●Hearings lead to results. Hearings just got Kristi Noem fired. There are more Trump Administration officials who should follow her out the door.
- ●Hearings will force Congress to stop telling us they oppose the war and start working to stop it.
- ●Without hearings, voting on the war didn't check the President. It rubber-stamped this illegal action.
